How long can an appointment be for?

The Tribunal may appoint a private guardian or the Adult Guardian for whatever period of time it considers appropriate, up to five years. A private administrator can be appointed by the Tribunal for a period up to five years. The Tribunal has the option of appointing The Public Trustee of Queensland or a trustee company (under the Trustee Companies Act 1968) as administrator for an indefinite period. Appointments are reviewed before the end of the period or earlier if the Tribunal considers it necessary. The Tribunal can also review an appointment if someone has applied for a review.
